Rule Extraction

Semantic Extraction Engineer, DMN and Rules

Work on the stage that decides what counts as a business rule: program slicing over the control-flow graph, rule classification, and DMN 1.5 decision tables with correct hit policies and FEEL expressions.

What you will do

  • Improve the slicing that isolates a calculation (an interest accrual, a rating factor, an eligibility test) from the I/O, logging and error handling around it.
  • Generate DMN 1.5 decision tables that import cleanly into DMN engines, choosing hit policies (UNIQUE, FIRST, COLLECT) that match the legacy branch order.
  • Translate COBOL conditions, including 88-level condition names and EVALUATE TRUE blocks, into FEEL expressions that keep packed-decimal precision and rounding.
  • Build the classifier that labels each executable path as extracted rule, plumbing, or flagged for review, and measure it against analyst sign-off data.
  • Write the sign-off view logic that shows every rule beside its source lines.

What we are looking for

  • 4+ years in program analysis, compilers, rules engines or formal methods.
  • Comfort with control-flow graphs, dominator trees and dataflow equations.
  • Working knowledge of DMN, or a decision-table formalism you can map to it quickly.
  • Precision in writing: you will document why a rule was or was not extracted.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Camunda, Drools or another DMN-capable engine.
  • Background in banking, insurance rating or benefits eligibility logic.
  • Familiarity with decimal arithmetic semantics across COBOL, Java BigDecimal and FEEL.
